P.H. Waszink - Construction Consultant
FEE SCHEDULE
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Based on retainer deposit basis agreements, Not-to-Exceed or open-ended hourly-rate agreements or (rare) lump-sum / fixed-price agreements as to fees and expenses, PHW-CC bills out all in-house work at professional billing rates typically ranging from $195.00 - $250.00 per hour, depending on such variables as individual project or case volume, complexity, operating conditions / constraints, etc. Various rates may be applied in the course of one consultancy.
An exceptional rate of $350.00 is applied to any appearances in dispute matters (i.e., for hearings of any nature; expert witness appearances for deposition testimony or at arbitration, mediation, or court).
This set of fee rates encompasses charges for a range of activities including:
Teleconferences or meeting / presentation participation, and related review and documentation
Project or case document review & comment
Field investigation and other research (as critical for conceptual budgeting as for substantiation for litigation work)
Quantity survey and pricing tasks (including direct research with general and sub-contractors and vendors in the industry)
Producing draft and final estimates, analyses, summaries and reconciliations, and related correspondence and reports
Negotiating contracts, claims, etc.
Expert-witness / deposition time including preparation activities
Coordination with co-consultants / management of sub-consultants as applicable
Necessary travel, and all other case- or project-related normal business operations
When demanded by schedule or project/case scope particulars, or when available data proves insufficient to support an opinion of scope and costs at the level of accuracy, completeness or "bulletproofness" required, PHW-CC will recommend that clients directly retain or commission as additions to PHW-CC's consulting team:
(A) Sub-consultants (or co-consultants, if retained directly by my client) such as mechanical or electrical engineers / estimators; architects and Code consultants; structural, civil or geotechnical engineers; etc., as determined on a case-by-case basis (hourly fees vary); and/or:
(B) Sub-consultants acting as direct assistants or specialty subconsultants to PHW-CC, typically to provide quantity survey, field investigative or other specialized technical support such as Mechanical or Electrical systems estimating, code consulting, etc. In finalizing and issuing any work product, PHW-CC reviews the work of sub-consultants to be incorporated or considered, coordinates such data with PHW-CC-direct scope coverage areas, and sets the data generated by others into the fabric of the final PHW-CC work product, toward rendering it unlikely that PHW-CC would be "blind-sided" or otherwise short of fully cognizant of the full, integrated content of the work product.
All reimbursable costs, including any sub-consultants' fees and expenses, are billed at cost. PHW-CC consultancies are either conducted on a retainer deposit basis (i.e., on the basis that blocks of comprehensive PHW-CC effort are in effect encumbered in prepaid increments -- with activities, fees and costs accounted for on a monthly basis), or billed monthly and due upon receipt. The typical retainer deposit / billing cycle is monthly on all work, with billing-basis payments typically due within 30 days.
